Hobble on the Cobbles, Aylesbury - August 2009
"Perhaps it’s my age, but when I first saw TR8R I had to think about what it said, but when the penny dropped it made sense! I like the name and it reflects the band’s age and personalities. Vicky (vocals), Mikey (guitar), George (bass) and Conor (drums) are full of bubbling personality. I have witnessed some unsigned bands who are technically brilliant musicians, but have no stage performance. I have to say Tr8r have both in abundance!!
From the moment they went on the stage to the enthusiastic crowd they flew around the platform during their set. They were just great fun to watch and to listen to . Kelly and I had no idea of what to expect but OH, MY, WORD they were full of energy and looked they were having the best time of their lives! The crowd (and myself) willed them to be awesome on stage. Their performance had nothing to do with age as all of them aren’t old enough to remember Star Wars the first time round! What I believed they had was personality and the passion to give a performance.
During my photoshoot with them, they came across has young quiet kids (although Conor came across as confident when he corrected me on a comment I made). On stage, they are a potential performance to be reckoned with. Some of the older bands could learn a thing or two about TR8R. A joy to photograph, a pleasure to meet and great fun to watch. I wish Tr8r all the very best of luck in the future. Terry."
Lemonrock - May 2009 - MP3 of the week: We Make Your Life Better
"TR8R are a young indie band, based in Chesham, Buckinghamshire. This original pop/rock track shows shed loads of promise, both as songwriters and performers. The lead vocal is quite dry in the mix, but there's vibrant energy crouching behind every lyrical wave Vicky rides out on. If you like your rock right-between-the-eyes, slightly retro (think Blondie meets the Arctic Monkeys, with nuances of The Knack in those guitar riffs), and hugely original, give this band your full attention, and, seeing as how you love live music, why not pop along to show your support when they're playing next."
The New Roxette - February 2009
"...TR8R, despite diminutive years, have fit in quite a lot over the last few months... They formed as TR8R in May 2008, in the sleepy town of Chesham, but before that the boys in the band had honed their skills at pub gigs, admirably playing great covers from 'Rocks Rich Oeuvre', written by men around twice their age..." Myspace - December 2008 - The KMD Jam Christmas Party
"...the night was finished by TR8R, a (very) young band ...Some excellent riffing throughout, solid bass, great drum flourishes and in Vicky Mackenzie a female vocalist who seems to get stronger with each performance. They are clearly very technically proficient, have tons of potential and are already learning how to build up that rapport with an audience. It is going to be very interesting to watch them progress from here. Read full review...
